Will my health insurance cover the costs of treatment?
Statutory health insurance companies generally do not cover the services of alternative practitioners. Speak directly with your insurance company about possible coverage. Private supplementary insurance policies sometimes include alternative practitioner services. For those with private insurance, some treatments can be billed according to the alternative practitioner fee schedule.
-
Can treatment costs be claimed for tax purposes?
Treatment costs can be claimed as "extraordinary expenses" on your tax return. However, the following conditions must be met to qualify for tax relief: • The alternative practitioner must be officially licensed. (My practice is licensed.) • The medical necessity and type of treatment must be clear. (Not all treatments I offer are tax-deductible per se.) A discussion with your tax advisor may be helpful in this regard.
